How can we help you?

Over the years members of the litigation team have been involved in multiple major cases involving the Protection from Harassment Act 1997, both bringing and defending injunctions and claims for damages in the County and High Court. The harassment work undertaken by us is mainly linked to neighbour disputes and wider property litigation issues and fits in with our property litigation work, such as boundary disputes, nuisance, trespass and neighbour disputes. Instructions, past and present have included harassment arising out of boundary disputes, harassment arising out of neighbour disputes, harassment arising out of partnership and business disputes, harassment by landlords and harassment arising out of the breakdown of relationships.

We can also be instructed to investigate and commence criminal private prosecutions in relation to harassing behaviour.

Riz Majid, the head of litigation, spent the early part of his career assisting Tim Lawson-Cruttenden (who sadly passed away in 2019). Tim Lawson-Cruttenden is the solicitor who specialised in the niche area of harassment law, and co-drafted the Stalking Bill 1996, the Restraining Orders Bill 1999 (Private Members Bills) and drafted the Opposition amendments to the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. He was also the co-author of the Blackstone’s Guide to the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and Blackstone’s Harassment Law and Practice.
